The extension changes only the last date for applications. It does not change the examination date (6 December 2026, 2:00–4:00 p.m.), the application portal, or the eligibility conditions for CLAT 2027.

- Notification dated 31 October 2026 issued by Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, President, Consortium of National Law Universities, extending the last date for submission of CLAT 2027 online applications (UG and PG) to 11:59 p.m. on 7 November 2026.
Deadline extended to 7 November for UG and PG applications
The Consortium of National Law Universities has extended the last date for submission of CLAT 2027 online applications to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, 7 November 2026. The extension, notified on 31 October 2026 by Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, President of the Consortium, applies to applications for both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The original last date was 31 October 2026. Candidates who had not applied by that date may now submit their applications until the extended deadline. The Consortium's helpline for assistance is clat@consortiumofnlus.ac.in and 080-47162020 (Monday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Examination on 6 December, as originally scheduled
Under the schedule announced in the Consortium's press release of 22 July 2026, the CLAT 2027 examination will be held on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The online application portal has been operational since 3 August 2026.
The extension notice changes only the last date for applications. It does not alter the examination date or time, and no change to the application portal or to eligibility has been notified.
The press release records that the application portal opened on 3 August 2026 and was originally to remain open until 31 October 2026. The extension notice, dated 31 October 2026, moves only the closing date, to 7 November 2026.
The examination schedule itself was decided by the Consortium's Executive Committee and Governing Body at meetings held on 18 July 2026, and the press release announcing it was issued on 22 July 2026.
BANTHRY ANALYSISWhat the extension does and does not change
The one-week extension matters most to candidates who had not applied by 31 October: the window stays open a week longer without any change to the examination itself, so preparation plans built around the 6 December date are unaffected. Because the notice fixes the cut-off at 11:59 p.m. on 7 November, applications must be submitted by that time — a deadline that falls on a Saturday, so candidates should not assume the portal will accept late submissions.
The notice states no further extension, and the examination date has not moved.
BANTHRY ANALYSISFor law aspirants: apply before 11:59 p.m. on 7 November
For law aspirants, the practical steps are simple: submit the application on the Consortium portal before 11:59 p.m. on 7 November 2026, keep the acknowledgement, and continue preparation for the 6 December examination. Candidates facing technical difficulty can reach the Consortium at clat@consortiumofnlus.ac.in or on 080-47162020 during working hours.
